To promptly notify site owners about the infection, Yandex started sending notifications by e-mail. Previously, this feature was only available to users of the service “Yandex. Webmaster.” Now notifications are sent to everyone whose website has been attacked by intruders.
Site owners do not always know in time that malicious code is placed on their site. According to our statistics, in 27% of cases this code remains on the site for more than six months. Because of this, the site loses the audience and a significant part of the traffic, and visitors’ computers are infected with viruses.
Yandex checks more than 21 million pages a day and daily finds malicious code on about three thousand sites that it did not previously have. In total in the database of Safe Search Yandex more than 430 thousand infected sites, 4.4 million pages. We warn people about dangerous sites both in search results, and in Opera and Firefox with Yandex.Bar. No less important task for us is to help the webmaster remove the malicious code from your site as soon as possible and prevent re-infection.
The notification delivery addresses are specified in whois or standard common technical addresses (for example, webmaster@, admin@, support@). In addition, if the site is infected with a third-level or higher-level domain, the notification will also be sent to the second-level domain contacts. Depending on the domain ownership, notifications are sent in languages that are understandable to recipients.
Each letter contains a link to the unsubscribe notification. In the future, you can subscribe to notifications again – both via a special link from the email, and adding the site to the Yandex.Webmaster service.
